A short introduction from Michael.

I enjoy helping clients discover the source of their distress, take back their power from trauma, and develop thought patterns and behaviors to mitigate or eradicate the problems they sought counseling for. I am fulfilled by the deeply engaging exploration of an individual's psyche through therapeutic discourse. I am intrigued by counseling theory and neuropsychology; the more I learn, the more I wish to know. I have experienced the overwhelming satisfaction of overcoming significant mental health challenges, and I feel a drive to help others do the same.

Some of what I bring to this work is not just professional. After years living with bipolar disorder, I have been symptom-free since early 2024. I was able to wean off of the medication I had taken for the previous seven years after starting a metabolic health protocol. I learned how to support my brain and nervous system in a way I had not before. That experience shapes how I think about every client's distress. Every person's symptoms come with a unique set of causes, and there is almost always something we can do about them. We just have to find it.

Before counseling, I spent a decade in the Louisiana education system as a high school English teacher, an assistant principal, and eventually as a director of high school. The longer I worked with students, the clearer it became that what most of them needed was not a different lesson plan but someone who could meet them where their lives actually were. That realization is what brought me to this work.

I work best with adults navigating trauma, substance use recovery, anxiety, mood disorders, and the kind of life transitions that ask you to become someone different than you were. EMDR, The Flash Technique, and metabolic-informed approaches are central to how I help.
